Friday 22nd April – West End Fire Festival
Day
I worked at Newstead.
Night
Bronwen and I watched “Knock Off” comedy at the Powerhouse, then drove to West End, where we dropped in on the newly moved Boundary Street Markets and Motor Room at the Boundary Hotel. Due to threats of “civil disobedience” the owners/developers of the Absoe site where the markets were supposed to have their final hurrah this weekend locked the place down and surrounded it with security guards. It’s quite rude of them, as most of the stallholders, and a band, had all planned a big final weekend event only to have it cancelled on them.
After finding that the Boundary Street Hotel is no replacement for the Boundary Street Markets we headed down to Orleigh Park and watched the West End Fire Festival. It was very busy with cars parked illegally everywhere—apparently someone complained and a whole lot got parking tickets.
