Africa Day Festival
Bronwen and I got up early and drove to the Africa Day Festival—now held at the Spanish Centre in Acacia Ridge instead of Africa House, for some reason. We arrived around midday—for an event that was supposed to have started at 10—but not many other people had arrived. This year’s event was much smaller than previous years—and it seemed like something might have gone wrong, as many of the speakers and performers simply weren’t there when they were announced to perform, and a decidedly non-African Chinese group performed quite a lot.
It did get busier as the day got later, and Bronwen and I ended up staying there until it finished around 6 PM.
West End Fire Festival
After the Africa Day festival finished Bronwen and I rushed to Orleigh Park and the West End Fire Festival. It also was much smaller than usual for some reason. We met Carissa and her friends there, and I took a few photos until it got too cold, and we headed home via The Three Monkeys where Carissa and her friends had gone.
