Stop Black Deaths in Custody: Black Lives Matter Meanjin
I drove into the city and walked to King George Square, to have a look at the latest “Black Lives Matter” protest. After the really huge protest which took everyone by surprise, no one was quite sure how big this one might be—but it seems the momentum has been well and truly lost as it was quite small, and was an almost exact replica of the earlier protest—right down to stopping at the same places to “take a knee” on their march from King George Square to Musgrave Park. The only difference I saw—apart from the huge lack of people—was an attempted burning of an Australian flag (it turns out plastic flags don’t really burn—it just turned into a sort of flag-coloured lump of plastic).
West End
After the protest I met Bronwen at Musgrave Park and we walked to West End and had some curry and a cheese and garlic naan from The Indian Kitchen, then a cheap pizza from Dominos which we ate at the West End Common park. It was almost like coronavirus didn’t exist!
Bronwen’s Parents’ Place
After food we walked the long walk back to the car parked in the city, and then drove to Bronwen’s Parents’ place, before driving home.
