Sunday 6th March – Flood Damage
Coronavirus Lockdown Day 714
#StandWithUkraine Protest
Flooding
After the rally Bronwen and I drove to what’s left of the floating restaurant on Coronation Drive and had a look at it, and its new jaunty bike-path-blocking angle before wandering past my old place and having a look around the flood cleaning in Milton/Auchenflower/Rosalie. The police tried to tell Bronwen she had to move on (apparently walking down a public street is a move-on-able action now?), but she argued with them and they gave up. Some crazy lady also abused us, though the local residents overheard her and assured us they had no problem with us.
After that we drove past Bronwen’s property to see what damage the plumber had done, stopped off at the Paddington Woolworths for some chocolate milk, and then drove out to Oxley (where we hid in the flooded and closed Oxley Bunning’s undercover carpark while a wild storm passed) and Rocklea, having a look at some of the areas there that had been severely flooded, and chatting to some of the locals.
Large amounts of police are patrolling everywhere. I’m curious what they’re trying to stop—are people taking this opportunity to break into empty houses?
