Tuesday 2 December – Pizza
Day
Worked.
Night
Got pizza and took it to Maz’s, meeting Raymond there.
Wednesday 3 December – Australia
Day
Worked.
Night
Went and saw “Australia” with Bronwen. Had they not billed it as “Australia”… it would have made a reasonable outback romance—“Drover” would probably have been a good name for it. However, billing it as “Australia”—some kind of realistic Australian romance/drama, just didn’t fit—it was an unrealistic, propagandist fairy-tale where everything ends just right. That’s not how Australia was, or probably ever will be.
Thursday 4 December – Geeky
Day
Worked.
Evening
Went to Indooroopilly to do some shopping, met up with Maz and Kieran. Spent some time at Kieran’s. Stayed up late.
Friday 5 December – Working
Day
Worked.
Evening
Saw Bronwen in the city for a short while, before heading home.
Saturday 6 December – Stella & Noodles
Morning
I bought a very large sheet.
Day
I was supposed to clean, but didn’t end up doing much cleaning. Went to Toowong in the afternoon, met Stella, had a late noodle lunch, did some shopping. Stella came around and got the last of her stuff. It rained. Stella’s phone went flat, making it hard for her to call her boyfriend for a ride. They have no power at their new home. They thought this was because the previous people who lived there didn’t pay the bill, but they found out when Stella’s boyfriend, Nick, dropped her off, that it was because a breaker had tripped.
Sunday 7 December – Silas
Cleaned lots. Bronwen came around in the afternoon. We walked to Milton Station where we met Silas—who is down in Brisbane for a day or few—then went to Officeworks for glue, and had dinner at Halim’s Indian Taj with Silas.
Monday 8 December – Silas
Morning
Work, arriving a little late due to staying and having coffee and toast with Silas.
Evening
Bronwen arrived, and Silas, Bronwen and I chatted for a while before heading to Belle Notte at Park Road for dinner.
Tuesday 9 December – Sam
Night
I stopped in the city to meet Bronwen, walking to Kangaroo Point with her, then rushing home and on to Maz’s with one of the media centre’s hard drives, meeting Kieran there.
Wednesday 10 December – Chatting
Evening
I went to Maz’s.
Night
I walked up to Bronwen’s parent’s place, where Bronwen was, and had a chat.
Thursday 11 December – Late Iced Coffee
Day
I worked.
Evening
I went to Umart to pick up a keyboard, mouse and wireless card that Maz had bought.
Night
Maz dropped past, we went and had a look at the communications cabinet thrown out up the road, then headed to Maz’s place where we played around with computers, watched some TV, chatted, bought iced coffee, and got home far too late, not getting to bed until half past three.
Friday 12 December – Tara Thai
Morning
I’m at work, even a little early for a change.
Evening
Met Bronwen in the city, went to Tara Thai in the Valley for dinner, went to the Casino, and stayed up until 4 AM.
Saturday 13 December – No Clean Feed
I attended the embarrassing “No Clean Feed” protest, where the nerds showed themselves to be so nerdy that they hurt their own cause.
Sunday 14 December through Wednesday 17 December
No data available.
Thursday 18 December – My New Car
Morning
Called in sick.
Day
Found out that the car I was looking at had been sold for $6,200. Considering they’d have to pay $400 to $500 to get it on the road, I don’t think it was a good price. However, it does mean I don’t have a car I’m thinking I’ll get, so I rushed around madly looking for one. Caught a train and bus out to City Auctions, had a look at some of their cars, didn’t like any of them, used my phone to go through the trading post, rushed up to a car dealer up north, bought a Falcon BA MKII XT there—I think it’s a very good price. However, I can’t pick the car up until tomorrow.
Friday 19 December – Paid for New Car
Morning
Called in sick again. Did some work from home. Slept. Went to bank and got bank cheque. Went to RACQ and got insurance. Went to car dealer’s and got car. Drove car home. Found passenger’s door didn’t lock. Arranged to take car back on Monday to have this fixed.
Night
Picked Maz up from his Aunt’s place. Drove up Mt Coot-Tha, drove down the freeway, drove to UQ—so far am liking the car. It’s now 2 AM, and I’ve got home in a few minutes, not sweaty—before it’d take me over half an hour to walk home. Still, I need to make sure I keep up some exercise, and fuel is no doubt going to cost me lots.
Saturday 20 December – Tenting
Morning
Bronwen and I put up the tent to make sure it was still tent-ish.
Afternoon
Bronwen and I went shopping for some additional camping gear. We’ve bought yet another blow-up mattress—let’s hope this one doesn’t self-deflate like all the other ones have. We stopped at Maz’s on the way back, for Bronwen to pay for his old phone, before I dropped her in the city and went myself back to Maz’s. Kieran was there, playing games.
Night
I had dinner at Bronwen’s parent’s place, along with a few of Bronwen’s relatives, including her.
Sunday 21 December – Pre-Woodford Tent Placement
Afternoon
Bronwen and I drove up to Woodford, missing the exit in exactly the same way we did last time, turning around in the same place, and going the same back way. We put up our tent just a few metres from where it was last time, and drove back to Brisbane. The car is nice—I like.
Night
Bronwen, Maz and I had curry for dinner from Halim’s, then went and had a look at the winner of the Christmas Lights competition. It was pretty impressive.
Monday 22 December – Packing
Morning
I rushed back to the car dealership to have the lock actuator in the passenger door replaced, arriving just on eight. I was given a V6 Nissan Navara as a loan car, and drove to work, arriving a few minutes late.
Midday
Hungry Jack’s for lunch with Chris.
Evening
I drove the loan car back and picked up my car, now fully lockable.
Night
I was supposed to pack for my trip to Cooktown tomorrow, and pre-pack for Woodford, so I can arrive back, pick up my Woodford gear, and leave immediately. But instead, Maz and I went to Indooroopilly Woolworths, then spent some time at Maz’s place, before I headed home to pack, finding I had to do washing, then procrastinating before driving back to Maz’s to get a slurpee. By the time I got home from that my washing had finished and I could hang it out, and it was horribly late, so I decided to make a precise list of everything needed for Woodford while I’m in Cooktown, so I can very quickly find and pack it when I get back, and do the same thing for Cooktown now, so I could pack for Cooktown in the morning.
