Monday 26th December – Woodford Folk Festival 2016/2017
Got up at 7:30 AM, packed the car, got cash out from an ATM, put some petrol in the car, checked Google maps, route was clear, so we drove to Woodford.
By the time we’d got out of the city Google had turned red and the route wasn’t clear anymore. Despite quite a lot of nearly stopped on the highway it only took fifteen minutes longer than expected.
We were pulled over for a random breath test just before the festival. The police were searching a couple of vans but didn’t want to search us.
We got given our armbands at the drive thru gate, which is a lot more sensible than having to go to a tent and get them, and unpacked the car at the tent. We forgot to bring our camping chairs yet again.
We met some of the acro people as we were driving to our campsite. They’re camped quite near. We dropped Aram’s tent off to him at Happy Campers and spent some time talking to people at Dan and Rhianna’s camp, before heading down to the festival and having a look around.
We visited our boss at his campsite in the afternoon, ate leftover Christmas lunch for lunch, and headed back down to the festival—which isn’t technically started yet—for the evening.
We listened to Bill, Karen and Sophia welcome the volunteers, then headed back to the tent to shower and go to bed.
The water was warm, but not hot.
We went to bed at 10:40 PM.
Thus began Woodford 2016/2017.
I’ll let photos do the rest of the talking…
