Saturday 29th October – Island Vibe Festival 2016
Retaining its reputation as the finest reggae, soul and dub event in Australia, Island Vibe Festival returns for its 11th year! Our festival has a strong eco and cultural focus, and is unparalleled by any Australian festival in its majestic location and experience.
Island Vibe is held at the stunning beachside location of Point Lookout, North Stradbroke Island on North Stradbroke Island – known as Minjerribah to the Quandamooka people Indigenous to the region. The second largest sand island in the world, Minjerribah is renowned world-wide for its beaches, beauty and chilled atmosphere.
Island Vibe Festival itself spans 3 glorious spring days at the end of the whale migration season, playing host to over 80 bands, DJs, dance and circus acts from around Australia, the Pacific and beyond.
Island Vibe Festival 2016
I caught the 9 AM Stradbroke Flyer Gold Cat over to the island, then the bus to Point Lookout, then walked to Island Vibe Festival.
Night
I spent the night “camped” behind a sand dune near the festival. Fortunately, it didn’t rain as all I’d brought was a sleeping mat and I had all my camera gear with me.
Sunday 30th October – Island Vibe Festival 2016
Home
I stayed as late as I could without getting stuck on the island for another night—catching a special festival bus from the festival back the ferry terminal at Dunwich, and then the 8 PM Stradbroke Flyers Gold Cat back to the mainland, and drove home.
