Thursday 17th December – Christmas Lights
Day
I drove in to work to have a meeting about an upcoming contract, then met Bronwen in The Valley and had lunch, before stopping at South Bank under a misguided assumption that it’d be cool beside the river and wouldn’t be too busy in the middle of a weekday, and I’d be able to go for a walk. I did manage to go for a walk, but it was not cool and it was extremely busy. I nearly killed eighteen different toddlers (and nine already-fatally-sunburnt British backpackers) by walking on them in my heat-crazed daze.
Night
Bronwen and I drove to have a look at a few of the Christmas Lights winners—we went and saw the two winners of the “Best East”, and second placed “Best Neighbourhood”. We’d seen two of them before—and to be honest, they are pretty much the same each year—though unlike previous years, for some reason it was nowhere near as busy, and it also wasn’t muddy or raining (though it did start to rain on the way home).
We bought pizza on the way home, and had that for dinner.
